Sixteen scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded to Spalding County residents today totaling $16,000. Funds for these scholarships are raised from the Kiwanianne Korn Dawg sales. Congratulations to all of the scholarship recipients! These 11 GSCS students received scholarships. Ten GSCS students participated in a Young Author’s Literacy Celebration during the Griffin May Fling event, Saturday. The students, who have authored and published books, read excerpts from their books and sold signed copies during the downtown festival. Congratulations to the following GSCS student authors who represented Futral Road Elementary School, Kennedy Road Middle School and Spalding High School: Tega Oduaran, Laila Olukoya, Saralynn Mercius, Reginald Abraham, Amaris Momodu, Shelby Burrows, Emma Maldonado, Chanreachanie Phoeun, Chanrasmai Phoeun, Siri Oduaran and Skye Oduaran. Their books are currently available on Amazon.com and will be available thru Kindle unlimited in the near future.
