Our Pre-K Bears built their very own birdhouses today. Their little hands and big imaginations made something special!

We’re so grateful for each of you who joined us for our Thanksgiving luncheon! It was wonderful to see our ATK families come together to eat, laugh, and fellowship. Your presence made the day extra special, and we are thankful for the love and support you continue to show our school community. #ATKalltheway

A huge thank you to the Rotary Club, Ms. Debby Daniel-Bryant (retired educator), and Mr. Adam Pugh for stopping by Atkinson Elementary to donate books celebrating diversity! Your generous gift will bring even more representation, joy, and learning to our book vending machine. Our students are so excited to dive into these new stories! #atkalltheway

GSCS and Butts County Schools' Exceptional Students had an awesome day at the Special Olympics Track & Field Event today at Spalding High School! Students kicked off the event with a parade, then competed in track and field events and played developmental games. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event so fun and special for our students! Shout out to the SHS Blue Jag Funk Marching Band, chorus and student volunteers!

Some students were caught following the 5 P’s and earned a sweet surprise! A big thank you to The Preferred Choice for treating our Bears to Kona Ice today!

In Ms. T. Alexander’s Computer Lab this week, our students are learning how to code! Their opening activity challenged them to create a cup stacking design and write out a series of steps, or an algorithm , to show how they built it. They’re learning that coding is all about problem-solving, sequencing, and creativity!

We are so proud of the GSCS Elementary Honor Chorus for their amazing performance! But we’re especially proud of our talented ATK Bears who represented us so beautifully.

#SchoolPsychWeek is an annual opportunity to recognize the important role our school psychologists have in helping our students thrive in school, at home and in life. This year's theme, "Finding Your Path," reflects the ways that school psychologists help students, families and school communities set and achieve their goals. Join us in celebrating the work of our school psychologists and the difference they make every day. Thank you!

You’re invited to our Thanksgiving Luncheon at Atkinson Elementary! Join your child for a warm meal and a time to celebrate thankfulness together. Lunches are $5 per adult (cash only). Please return your form soon so we can plan for you. We can’t wait to celebrate with our ATK families!

Yesterday, the Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting at Fairmont Community Center for the new book vending machine. We are so thankful that so many people turned out to support this continued commitment to improving literacy in Griffin-Spalding! This was a great collaboration between the city, county, chamber, school system, Partners In Education and many other organizations.

GSCS families, please give us your input before October 31.
